Perfect Way to End a Winter's Day!

Things have been a little hectic here at Mitchell House Interiors this month, so it is nice to finally "slow-down" & enjoy my new books that I have just received!

It is a cloudy & cool Winter's day here in Brisbane so what better way to end the day then snuggling up on the sofa with a fur blanket, a hot coffee & browse through these lovely books- all research for work of course
:-)
My new  Design books!

Book 1- A Life Less Ordinary
Just some of the gorgeous images from this book
Lovely neutral colours & shapes

Book 2- Black & White (and a bit in between)

Classic black & white inspiration!
Shades of blacks, greys & whites from Nature
Love the earthy neutral colour palette in this space- great balance of light!

Book 3- Decorating with Colour By Farrow & Ball

Loving the painted timber detail on the back of this bench seat.

Just Stunning!

I have always loved this Farrow & Ball wallpaper.
I hope you all get a bit of inspiration from these images & are able to apply some into your homes! www.igigigeneralstore.com, www.farrow-ball.com, www.kembleinteriors.com

"Black Doors"

By having the black door in the centre & the black fencing, down pipe
& Number 4  on either side they have balanced out the black.
Greenery with scented roses creates a soft fragrant entrance!!
As I have now nearly completed my stairwell ( just need to create some artwork to hang) my attention has now turned to our Front Door!!
We have been thinking about painting our front door gloss black to tie in with the top rail & main posts of our stairwell. It's just screaming out to be done & it will suit the  Modern Classic look I'm creating for our Townhouse.

What colour front door do you have?
What would you like to have?

Here are some inspiration images I have found via Pinterest for Black Doors:

I LOVE these black barn doors!!! Oh to have a large
 property with a barn-sigh!
You can also follow our Doors & Gates Pinterest board here: http://www.pinterest.com/blondelily/doorways-gates/
for more inspiration & other colours too!

What a classic Front Door-Oh to see the rest of house!

A more Modern streamline look- added by the
symmetry & simplicity of the windows

A Modern Classic with crisp white exterior
& simple potted greenery

Weekend Project- Reinventing pot plants

A couple of weekends ago I found an old brown pot in my backyard which has been empty for ages.
I nearly threw it out as it was a very bland pot, but it was in perfect condition & I preferred to re-invent & recycle it instead.
My old brown pot before I got my paint brush to it!
On with the first coat
& "TAH DAH" just 3 coats later with my new fiddle-leaf fig
plant & we have a brand new classic white pot plant for our
stairwell.

Well this weekend has been really windy & cold outside & I have been inside most of the day in my office/studio working on a Client's Interior Project & drawing my next art piece. More on those in the next coming weeks.
